What, it seems to us that there’s a big difference between calling some the N-word (or using it disparagingly) and discussing its usage. We’re open to being persuaded differently, but so far, as usual, you’ve resorted to ranting rather than reasoning. You’ve got the floor so why don’t you try to explain why it was offensive to you in this case. Clearly, in the context it was used, there was no malice intended by the commenter. Now, that doesn’t mean that it could not have unintentionally offended you or others, so let’s hear it. And don’t make it a personal attack on DIBS–make a reasoned case.
goldie at 9:36…precisely. Yes, he hadn’t done much in the last 20 years and he made the news for mostly all the wrong reasons. But his impact as a singer, dancer and all around entertainer is almost unmatched. Today should be a celebration and remembrance of his artistic accomplishments. All of the negative stuff, most of which he brought upon himself (and as a father I am not casually dismissing it) has been discussed for years and years. He deserves at least a day of honour.
