Re: The Baily Mansion.
I did a post about the Schnasi Mansion when it came on the market as it was touted as the only remianing freestanding mansion in NYC. Then I got a bunch of people who chimed in about The Baily Mansion. I had this article bookmarked. Good read.
DIBS: OK, you get honorable mention for indicating New Utrecht (although that is the name of the town, not the sub-division).
Arkady: there is a book published on the history of Bensonhurst and Bath Beach that is loaded with photos of the original sub-division. I have it at home, and can’t remember the name of the author. It is amazing. Each house was custom-designed for a prominent family. What I found amusing is that they reprint some of the newspaper advertisements for Bensonhurst-by-the-sea, and it extolls its suburban charms pretty much the same way that a developer of McMansions would do today.
Arkady- failure to thrive. She had a massive eye infection which i got under control but I’ve been force feeding her as she won’t eat on her own. She seemed to be doing better and she fought really hard but this morning she’s definitely fading away so I’m just holding her and letting her go easily and crying all over the place.

“Hi folks;
I’m back.”
benson, thanks for the warning. 🙂
bxgrl, really sorry to hear about your cat.
bxgrl, that sucks but if the cat has lost will to live, there’s not much you can do.
Bxgrl;
Sorry to hear about the kitty.

Which room did they do the embalming in??? This place is now likely to be haunted.
Not speaking English today, above should read,”it doesn’t really have a neighborhood around it”. Sheesh.
