DH, I can’t say JC is exciting and I personally don’t know it enough to know what is “worth” checking out. But if you seriously digging Red Hook and those prices, I thought JC is a worthy alternative to check out. I think the areas around the parks are good to check out – hamilton park, van vorst,.. so is the area along the water (super high taxes though).
based on limited knowledge, I think area around hamilton park and area near grove st station are decent choices – can find some good value, near enough shops, near path stations, etc.
I think you might be able to ride bike to check it out – albeit dont recall seeing bike lanes

I love that Russell Peters guy – another thing that Brownstoner has introduced me to.

Doesn’t matter what the price is – I want it cheaper!
Price includes a haircut. If they won’t discount for nixing that then I’ll just have to find someone that wants a haircut and pass that on for $5. psssst, anyone want a haircut for $5?!? 😉
Arkady, I’m assuming the roof antenna is something that’s been there a long time already. if so, it’s probably an analog antenna so connecting to it wont help resolve your problem.
“Sounding like maybe it’s time to check out DH’s pick – walter foods”
Was actually disappointing last time i went – service seems to vary depending on the price of your entree :-\ Still worth checking out, maybe they were off that night.
m4l – nope, haven’t made it out to JC yet. Been out on the island relaxing the past few weekends as the city has me kinda frazzled. Any suggestions on things to check out (anything) would be much appreciated!

Music Alert:
Is anyone else listening to NPR? Did you hear this song, Taller Children, by the band Elizabeth & the Catapult? FANTASTIC!
And now back to your regularly scheduled programming….
Ah, thanks m4l. It came w/ the house when I bought it from the Romans (really) in 1984.
