Bagel Works on 1st Ave (and 66th St) in Manhattan has by far the best bagels. Nothing else compares.

There’s a good bagel place on Court Street in Cobble Hill (forgot the name, maybe not so many good bagels b/c so many good Italian bakeries nearby?)
Not sure of your neighborhood Kensington, but if nearby CH, Sichuan Garden is pretty good. Not worth travelling for, but tasty. Chance on Smith Street is sort of Thai / fusion, and I really like it. Tasty and cheap and actually pretty groovy decor for dining in.
BXGIRL – thanks for posting that link. I read the story a couple days ago and was so upset but felt powerless to do anything. Agree with all, cruelty to animals / any living thing is a sign of serious issues. Ugh, it makes me sick to think about it.
