Dibs – That’s because stupid women are doing the shopping for their idiotic men.
And it’s men who are more likely to have those huge golf umbrellas that they pop open as they come up out of the subway after they’ve poked someone’s eye out w/ the ferrule on top. (And that’s after they’ve whapped a dozen people in the train.)
I agree with Sam’s recommendations. In addition, there is a local men’s clothing shop in Park Slope on the corner of 5th Ave and 7th or 8th street (I forgot which, but it is right on the corner, you can’t miss it). They are reasonably priced, and have a good slection.
I have a very sexist rant regarding umbrellas….Most women should not be allowed to use umbrellas. they are mechanical devices and, as such, are foreign to women’s cognitive powers. They don’t know how to raise them when walking by people, typically keep them so low that their heads are buried and they always knock into people. Also, the open and close them inappropriately without looking out for others. It’s my biggest sexist rant along with women who don’t open their handbags and start the process of digging out their purses to pay at the checkout line until they are told what the final amount is. ARRRGGGGHHHHH
i semi agree with that. but i find metrosexual men even worse than the women when it comes to umbrellas.\
also, umbrellas are lame. big woop if you get a little wet.
Sam, ixnay on the onduitcay. You are right, it was the best kept secret way to JFK (not to mention Robert Moses, etc.), at least until you spilled the beans.
Rob there are very nice consignments shops (second hand clothes) in Brooklyn. Try the one on Montague Street first.
Also go to Century 21 across from the World Trade Center site, there is also one in Bay Ridge but the one in Manhattan is actually more convenient to Park Slope. There is also Macy’s at the Fulton Mall, they have good sales sometimes and their clothes are very “regular”.
i have issues with people who “show up late” i find that most people who “show up late” have an air of superiority and that they get off on showing up late. i find it obnoxious and rude. i am always on time. im like Pekkle from hello kitty. “on time, off balance”. i find it better to always be on time, even if youre not balanced than be balanced but late.

Rob, in certain circles being on time is being late. You need to be there at least ten minutes before the time of the appointment.

“im like Pekkle from hello kitty.”
I feel so old. Whenever I use a character to compare my feelings to, it’s usually someone from a 1970s sitcom.
wohoo!!! i win!
i just went to google maps and followed conduit ave and looked for the weirdest street name
