NYU professor Clay Shirky has studied this phenomenon, and yes some small percentage of people online make most of the content. I think it was 10 or 12 percent. Maybe it’s increasing. Most people are lurkers. Which is why Brownstoner shouldn’t be surprised or dismayed that a relatively small number of people post compared to the traffic. Actually, all of Brownstoner’s numbers (traffic, page views, number of commenters, etc.) seem very high.
m4l…there was a lull in my posting from about 4:30 to 5 mnutes ago…that was me in the subway. I’m on Amtrak now headed to Philly. However I just realized that I left my 10 ride ticket home and I’m hoping this conductor, who knows me, lets it slide.
