  1. Okay, I went to this house this morning…NO, I’m not looking to buy it.
This isn’t in Brooklyn but mid 90’s & CPW.

But it is gorgeous, if I do say so myself 😉
The renovation is top notch. The pictures don’t do the house justice and I wish they had more pics on the site escpecially of the kitchen and baths which are to die for.
Check out the floor plan. Look at the Third Floor Master Bedroom Floor Thru – Now that’s the way it’s done, people! Noki, take notes.
    Every bedroom has a bathroom.
Can you say wine cellar AND elevator!
Granted no back yard (very little 5′ space behind space), but the roof deck with views of Central Park is hooked up high style.

8m….some brooklyn heights real estate looks overpriced in comparison.

  2. Per cwh – Oakland:

Rob, you can also take the F to Smith Ninth and walk – but you better have a little map with you and bundle yourself up if you haven’t done that walk before. It’s a bit of a hike from there.

The 61 Bus – which you can get on Atlantic Ave. goes to Red Hook.

  3. Rob and all;

If you really want to get a slice of “old-time” Red Hook and Brooklyn, have a drink in the bar at the VFW post on Ven Brunt Street off Sullivan St. I was born in Red Hook (a stone’s throw away from Fairway) and my dad still spends alot of his time there.

The VFW bar is open to the public. There is a cast of colorful old-time characters there. They’re a bit tough (as was Red Hook in the old days) but their bark is worse than their bite.

  4. Rob, you think there’s something to do in Red Hook?

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

I go for the industrial architecture…I love it!! You’ll see lots of great warehouse buildings, train tracks going into buildings, a few train cars on the waterfront, they are owned by someone, I forget who.

^^^^If the gates are open to this property, go in and walk around the building. I forget what street this is on. Does anybody remember or know?
The property is open to the public. However, don’t try to go into the building, they will stop you (yes, I try to sneak into anything). There’s a glass blowing studio on the ground floor that is really cool and open to the public. Go in and watch them blow glass, can’t remember the name.
Have fun and say hi to Lady Liberty!

  5. Rob, I enjoy just walking along the waterfront and buying lunch at Fairway and eating it outside, although that might be a bit chilly, now. I guess that shows how much excitement I can stand.

You could always go to Ikea, or wander around to various bars. Red Hook is kind of spread out, when on foot, so be prepared to walk, or hop on and off the bus.

  6. Oh, Rob, you young boy, DUH your unlimited will work on the buses.
    Get to red hook!

A couple of years ago, a photographer friend who had never been to Brooklyn wanted to go to red hook and photograph it. Hubby and I took him there. We snuck into some private waterfront property so he can get better shots. The dogs were loose, I never ran so fast in my life.

Have a good time in Red Hook.
