  1. “ROPE should give us discounts. The anticipated posts on this blog and word of mouth all these asshats invading the place, business should be up”

Yeah – perhaps Biff or myself should call and see if something could be worked out. But I imagine they already have a pretty good happy hour in the early weeknight evenings, and prices were already very cheap.

I can’t wait to see the look on the bartenders face when 40 asshats roll into his bar on a night that would normally be dead. KA-CHING!

  2. Yeah, Mirrors was fine. I have a pretty good nose for shady happenings in bars and didn’t see anything noteworthy. Just some peeps having some stellas and watching the lakers game.

  3. “Is that it?”

Well, it seemed that was where Mr. Brownstoner was going with his post, but as I said, he refused to address the post (and in fact took it down) once people started to ask questions. I just wondered exactly what he meant. Not very important in the larger scheme of things. I’m glad it turned out to be an OK place!

  4. ENY, I certainly didn’t see any shady activity going on. The bartender was friendly and it was certainly a very comfortable place to have a drink. It was dimly lit and had pretty funky tunes playing. At the time, it was just 6Years, DH and me there from our group and I believe the rest of the crowd was exclusively African American (which wasn’t different than a few of the other places we went, including the baby shower at Lox Lounge).

My only reason for including the last sentence above is because, from your post, I’m guessing perhaps people felt there was some potential race-baiting when it was mentioned on this blog before. Is that it? I thought it was a perfectly cool place for a drink.

  5. ENY,

Mirrors was very quiet. We arrived at around maybe 8? 8:15? Three older guys on the left side of the bar, which could fit about ten people…it seemed like a very local hangout. Nothing shady at all (except us of course).

  6. Haha Biff, I think your self-drawn map of Asshat Hill clinched the tourist image for all of us!

Amzi’s story of going a week without buying groceries (neighbors kept inviting him over) was a great advertisement for Bed-Stuy.
