I would really think twice before investing in a home in upstate NY. The economy of upstate NY is REALLY in bad shape. The former mainstays of the upstate NY economy – IBM, Xerox, Eastman Kodak, etc – have either pulled out or are in bad shape themselves. Once you get above the Poughkeepsie area, you are approaching the level of Appalachia in many areas.
This weekend we went out with friends whose son has a home in the Uptown neighborhood, Kingston, NY, which is a quite charming area of old Victorian homes. However, he is unemployed and cannot find any work up there. Moreover, our friends were telling us that their son has discovered that many of these old homes are really rooming houses.
I’m not trying to discourage you, but do advise that you perform alot of due diligence before you take the leap up there. The prospects for upstate NY are not bright, at least in the near-term.
DIBS, sounds like you need a wine cellar which direct access from front of house – make it convenient for you to transfer the cases of wine from delivery truck into the cellar
Her and her husband bought in Newburgh and are renovating their home. She got a very clean modern aesthetic in a historical home. Love the ways she’s melded the two looks without destroying the integrity of the home. I know she commutes to NYC not sure if her BH does.
“DH / Kens, if ladies are not overflowing over to you two, just say to Biff “how is your wife & kids doing?””
Maybe it would be easier if I just brought Mrs. Champion along. Contrary to popular belief, the best wingmen are not gay guys (although they sure as hell are better than straight guys) but are in fact other women! I think once other women get a whiff of some strange estrogen, they go into survival of the fittest / catty / competitive mode and search out the single guys in the group with the one or two ladies. Or maybe BRG would be willing to volunteer her services. The clear plastic pumps would certainly draw attention.
mmmmmm Pimm’s and lemonade, the british summertime treat.
Great song…

Mopar- That’d be brave.
Credit where credit is due. Those great homes were from a block called Door Sixteen.
