  1. Biff apples & oranges. I love the Chicago deep dish pizza. No, you cannot get one here at Uno’s, that’s crap. There’s no such thing as a good one outside of Chicago except Zachary’s in Berkeley.

However, with traditional pizza I do prefer a very thin, crispy crust.

  2. Biff, I’ve heard they don’t add walnuts to their muhammara. I’m disqualifying it from being authentic.
Maybe the location in Park Slope adds Walnuts.

btw – what’s up with your spelling of ‘hummous’? Is this Canadian talk?

  3. haha BRG – wasn’t aware of Malba – seems odd there is such a large enclave of McMansions in that part of queens, as if my memory serves me correct, Bayside, Whitestone and the other neighborhoods of northeastern queens are quite charming, with a lot of little old colonials.

  4. Yes, pitza is a pizza made with pita bread crust. It’s actually very good.

DIBS are you more into thin crusts or did your time in Chicago steer you towards the deep dish?

  5. Let’s raise our glasses and have a Malba toast.

I finally ordered take out from Fatoosh Pitza & BBQ in my neighbourhood (I believe there is also one in Park Slope) and it is delicious! Try the mixed grill platter and any of their pitzas. The bread was also excellent and great for dipping in the creamy hummous and absolutely amazing muhammara sauce. I had never heard of muhammara until now. Yummy. I wonder if I can buy some from Sahadi’s. anyone know?

  6. Thanks dh, I love monstrosities. I will check out Middle Village.
Heck, I have tacky houses in my own hood, but Malba was awesome as it was almost EVERY house was pumped up to the max.
