Clearly Benson has never been at a club in West Chelsea and have one of the aforementioned “guidos” spill a drink on him, hit on his girl and pick a fight with him. hahah.
No…bxgrl is correct. The word started as “deusy” and the phrase was “It’s a deusy” which came directly from the marketing line of the Deusenberg automobile…”It’s a Duesenberg.”
Duesenbergs were the most expensive autos ever made in the US…all the movie stars had them in the thirties. there was one model that sold for $20,000 in 1932.
Benson, serious question here (not trying to jump on you). Have you ever laughed at someone? (I’m willing to be the answer is yes) What was the basis of said laughter?
dibs- The origin of the American slang word “doozy,” meaning something excellent or powerful, is either the Duesenberg’s nickname, “Duesy,” or an older term (derived from earlier slang, “daisy”). Encarta.com describes the origins of the term as unknown, and dictionary.com lists it as possibly a blend of the terms “daisy” and “Duesenberg.” Etymonline.com lists it as “1903 (adj.), 1916 (n.), perhaps an alteration of daisy, or from popular Italian actress Eleonora Duse (1859–1924). In either case, reinforced by Duesenberg, an expensive, classy make of automobile, 1920s–30s.”
I can play that role both ways, Snappy. I can give the orders or be made to take orders depending on the situation. I could tell you some deusy of stories.
Any of you know where the word “deusy” comes from???

“I am enjoying how everyone is posting videos to now prove that they were not engaging in sterotyping and elitism.”
