DNAinfo reports that the Greene Grape is expanding yet again in Fort Greene, this time to the old Night of the Cookers space at 767 Fulton Street. The Greene Grape Provisions grocery store will move out of its old space and into the new one, and there will be more room for a larger butcher counter as well as a fish and seafood counter. The smaller space and current location will become a spot for prepared foods and possibly a salad bar.
Hurricane Sandy
Amusing the Zillion reports that a few stores on Coney Island have reopened, including a Key Food. Ruby’s Bar, Lola Star Boutique and Brooklyn Beach Shop opened for Small Business Saturday without any power. Nathan’s is still closed after damage to the electrical and plumbing, and it probably will not reopen until April. And many more stores and restaurants remain shuttered. Red Hook bar Sunny’s is struggling to reopen and started a Kickstarter page to help with the cost of damages. The Cherry Hill Gourmet Market reopened in Sheepshead Bay. And the Park Slope Armory reopened after serving as a makeshift shelter for Sandy victims.
Elsewhere
Park Slope, as always, has seen lots of recent openings: David’s Tea opened on the corner of 7th Avenue and 4th Street, The Crab Spot should open on Union Street in just a few weeks, and a Japanese restaurant is coming to the space nearby, at 847 Union Street. The owners of Al Di La say their third restaurant, planned for Lincoln Place in Crown Heights, will be “quite different from our other two restaurants.” Finally Brooklyn Based checked out Williamsburg newcomer Aska, which serves “New Nordic Cuisine.”
