Prospect/Crown Heights
The wait’s been killing us, but Prospect Heights Patch reports that the newer, bigger Chavelas will open on Franklin Avenue this month. The owners will keep the Classon Avenue location for a new restaurant. Patch also notes that Flatbush Avenue’s Heights Coffee is now called Velvet Peach Cafe. Brooklynian commenters notice a new bar in the works at the corner of St. Marks and Washington Avenue and wonder if a beer garden is coming to Pacific and Underhill. Anybody heard any details?

Grub Street takes the first look at Betto, which “will focus on a rotating roster of bruschette, made on housemade filone that’s traditionally grilled (as opposed to panini-pressed), oiled, and rubbed with garlic. There are also some snacky morsels like grilled plums with burrata, and littlenecks with sausage and spring onions.” Yum!! The Brooklyn Paper hears word that Nate Smith (of Dean Street fame) is getting ready to open up a new spot at 124 Bedford Avenue. It’ll be called Kettle Pie and be open by early September, but no details on what type of food.
Park Slope
Here’s a roundup of Here’s Park Slope’s news in the neighborhood: De Luxe Cafe is coming to 7th Avenue and 14th Street (and will take a “high class, lowbrow approach”), construction on the Spice storefront has resumed after a SWO, and two nail salons have opened.

From the Windsor Terrace Blog: “It is a casual place where neighbors can meet and hang out while enjoying good wines by the glass, wood-burning pizza such as Pissaladiere and Flammenkuche, cheeses and charcuteries platters, mussels, a great burger, and other small plates.”
