Carroll Gardens/Red Hook
Over Memorial Day weekend, Fairway Market opened its outdoor grill and patio, which serves up BBQ, beverages and desserts. It’ll be open every weekend until September. Photo by Danny L. A Red Hook Cabaret now open on Commerce Street will not have strippers — rather, the owners will focus on acts like jazz bands, rock ‘n’ roll, DJs, salsa, and stand-up comedy. And PMFA reports that the Avon store on Court Street, which has been there 26 years, is closing.

North Brooklyn
Popular L.A. burger joint Umami Burger will open one of its four New York City locations on North 4th Street in Williamsburg. The East Coast expansion will start happening this summer. Burg dive The Levee closed down amidst rumors that it wouldn’t be reopening. The owners actually had paperwork issues with the New York State Liquor Authority and plan to reopen in one month. Max Fish, after closing its popular Lower East Side location, should open at 130 Metropolitan Avenue around late July. A coffee shop and design store (with a Nordic edge) called Budin will open on Greenpoint Avenue this fall.

Park Slope
The Slope is getting the stationery store Paper Source on Seventh Avenue between Union and Berkeley. And the stationery/gifts store Scaredy Kat will close its doors on 5th Avenue in July. According to Here’s Park Slope, it’ll be replaced by Annie’s Blue Ribbon General Store, currently in Boerum Hill on State Street. Finally, Amber Sushi opened up on Union Street, just off 7th Avenue.

Elsewhere
Prospect Heights ramen restaurant Chuko will expand across the street with BarChuko. Located in the old Cornelius space, the owners said it will be a “neighborhood izakaya.” Over in Brooklyn Bridge Park, Luke’s Lobsters and No. 7 Sub opened on Memorial Day and will remain in the park seven days a week year round. Ditmas Park gift shop/craft store Brooklyn ARTery is relocating within the neighborhood because the building owners plan to tear down the property and replace it with a five-story mixed-use building.
