  1. What is mind-boggling to me is the woman who has a 4 bedroom in the Bronx (shared with her mother, 3 GROWN children, and a grandchild) for $1,122 (that that includes utilities, so the rent is probably in the $900 range) and is complaining. It is insane that a landlord is not able to charge 4-5 grown people living in a 4 bedroom apartment more than $900 in rent per month. That is ludicrous.

  2. The only people that “benefit” from this “0%” are the lazy short sighted selfish politicians.
Rent Stabilized tenants are only kept around so that these same politicians have something to kick around their small playing field and gloat that they have done something, instead of getting out there and doing some hard work and actually looking at the waste of funds and vacancies in the City owned house system itself.
Not only NYCHA but the illegal half way housing funded by the City, the Community Group housing Associations funded by the City, Homesteading programs that are flipped for market rates, even HDFC apartments that the City seems to have no listings or ways to channel low income people too, but Trust Fund kids buy with Cash!
There is so much affordable housing out there, the City and Politicians need to spend some time and money on auditing it, and seeing beyond the end of their nose. Instead they are whipping everyone into a frenzy that a Rent Stabilized apartment is the answer to all their prayers……. it stymies peoples lives, people become lonely desperate people hanging onto to their “lifeline” instead of going out and having a life.
I know many miserable rent stabilized tenants that have not got married, have not taken a fabulous job opportunity etc because of their stupid rent stabilized apartment.
Rent Stabilization creates a psychosis. It is not healthy.

    • Hey Aces, people didn’t become landlords by sitting around and whining about how unfair life is and wasting their time protesting everywhere but rather they were smart, worked hard and made great investment decisions. So my advice to you, go get a job so you can afford a nice market rate apartment.

  3. 1)Were taxes and water and utility bills frozen too? Otherwise I dont see how this will work.
2)And all studies here of people overpaying on rent are based on fm tenants. This gift to rs tenants will not help tenants paying half of their hard earned paychecks for rent. It will help people paying 250 dollar rents to continue paying that while landlords will probably push up free market rents to the max. That’s what happens when we throw out a practical businessman like Bloomberg and take in someone with zero executive experience.
