Fourth Avenue’s Bar Row between Bergen Street and St. Marks Place, which currently consists of the Cherry Tree and Fourth Avenue Pub, is about to get another member with the impending opening of Pacific Standard, an exposed-brick-and-wood-paneled watering hole. We met today with our friendly neighborhood asbestos inspector/architectural plan creator, Eddie. He looked around for 20 minutes, and proceeded to charge us $750 for his “services” (Kevin, our landlord’s response: “This is crazy! Fucking city! Before, I never pay city for permit!”).
Most of the red tape’s been cleared now, and the bar should open within the next week or two. Stay tuned.
