T Thai, the second-floor restaurant on the corner of 7th Avenue and Carroll Street, closed down last week, and signs have gone up announcing that the space is for rent. In its window display, the Thai joint boasted of being in business since 1980. GMAP

  1. “am i the only one who things restaurants are just silly?”

    only if:
    – have no disposable income
    – not cultured enough to have an interest in food variety
    – don’t value spending nice time conversing with friends/loved ones

other than that, totally. this new fad will pass.

  2. Hmmmm…I’ve only ever had the egg sandwich with a nice big cup of Stumptown Coffee, and as someone who doesn’t regularly eat a ton of breakfast, the simplicity and freshness of that always really hits the spot for me.

Definitely give it another try some time…

  3. 11217
i went to Get Fresh this weekend for sat brunch
have to say – wasn’t into what I ordered at all. it was reallllllly bland and uninspired – egg frittata with greens and white bean and quinoa – it needed a lot of seasoning. The ice tea was really tasty – perhaps I will go again and try something else

  4. Yeah, I have tried Fonda…I really like it a lot. Definitely worth a visit! The place was totally packed!

Just so you know, Moim is slightly hidden as it’s off 7th Avenue just a bit heading towards 8th Avenue on Garfield…It has a multi-colored awning.

P.S. That space right there on the corner (formerly HaNaBi) is being turned into a Wine Bar, or so I’m told. They were working on it a lot over the weekend. The rest of the space farther down 7th has been turned into a new chicken and custard place called Chickadee Chick, which I have yet to try…

I’m not into Miriam anymore either, and I just forgot my favorite brunch spot in the hood (and it’s on 5th) which is Get Fresh Table and Market. I go at least a couple times a month. LOVE that place!

  5. Ghenet is one of my faves in the nabe
    LOVEEEEE blue Sky Bakery
not into Miriam – have to admit. I ate once and really nejoyed it, went back ordered the same thing a month later and it was dry and overcooked
    oh well
Oh! – good one 11217 I will check our Moim
did you make it over to Fonda yet? that place is packed

  6. This conversation just proves how awesome the selection of restaurants is in PS. 5th AND 7th!

    And 4th…Ghenet (Ethiopian) is FANTASTIC!

Zuzu Ramen (also on 4th) is delicious.

And there’s a new place called LOT 21 on 6th Avenue right across from where the new Lucali’s is opening. So all over, there is good stuff.
