This Saturday the Parks Department threw open the gates at Lincoln Road Playground in Prospect Park, which had been closed after it suffered significant Sandy damage. According to a press release from the Prospect Park Alliance, it was the last area of the park that remained shut down because of the storm. There was $100,000 worth of damage to the play equipment, the fences, benches, safety mats and light poles. The Prospect Park staff, the Parks Department, and volunteers have worked pretty tirelessly to clear out the park since October’s storm: They removed 7,000 cubic yards of debris, weighing a total of 1,900 tons.
