Yesterday’s reveal was Cellar’s, today’s is L’Epicerie! The new place will be a Paris-meets-Brooklyn concept called BaguetteAboudit. It will likely serve a Choice-like assortment of high-quality, moderately-priced items like soups, salads and sandwiches in addition to fresh bread; there will be additional hot foods at night as well. It will open at 7 a.m. and run through the prime dinner hours seven days a week.

  1. While I’ll likely patronize this joint, I’ll cringe every time I walk through the door and NEVER speak it’s name aloud, instead referring to it as “that French place around the corner from Tillies on Vanderbilt, y’know?”

  2. What’s wrong with you people? This unfortunate pun name is a travesty. BaguetteAboudIt?

Down to the “d” where there should be a “t” this is simply the worst possible idea I’ve ever heard, casually and naively mocking the borough where it plants it roots? Taking the most overused / hackneyed phrase in the Brooklyn lexicon and tweaking it so it reflects French bread? I would expect this from Smith Street. Et tu, Fort Greene?

This makes me want to grab two beers and jump out the emergency chute.

    I will never eat here.
