La Taqueria Closed by Health Department
We were tipped off that La Taqueria, on 7th Avenue between Lincoln and Berkeley, has been shuttered by the Health Department. DOH has been making its rounds around New York restaurants, and we’ve seen more and more “grades” popping up on store windows. Guess this place didn’t pass. GMAP

Me too, Snappy. Wanted to add something about their recent inspection to this post but the website has been consistently down…
Is anyone else having trouble getting the restaurant inspection page to load? It refuses to bring up the search box for me in both Firefox and Safari – been going on for a few days now.
We’re so spoiled living a two blocks from Chavellas.
Has anyone really ever gotten sick from eating anywhere that has a sub par rating??? No, I thought not.
A cocka rocha…a cocka rocha…

I’ve only used La Taqueria’s loo over the years, the dingy environment never inspired me to eat there. Then I read their inspection reports a few months ago and that just sealed the deal for me. I am surprised it took the city this long to shut them down. Ozzie’s too? Yep, I’ve been avoiding that place forever; that closure makes perfect sense to me. I know that there are a lot of truly unreasonable health department regulations from my years in NYC restaurants (fruit fly control, “bakery” cats, etc.), but I do think it’s a reasonable expectation to at least maintain a facade of cleanliness…
ahhh, break up #6 with the on/off boyfriend took place in here. They asked us to leave after things turned ugly— or was that #4 in Joya? I can’t remember anymore.
Wow, thanks ebklyn! Will check that out tonight.
good! close all them dirty joints! this new grading system is a great thing for consumers. no more food poisoning hopefully!
