La Taqueria Closed by Health Department
We were tipped off that La Taqueria, on 7th Avenue between Lincoln and Berkeley, has been shuttered by the Health Department. DOH has been making its rounds around New York restaurants, and we’ve seen more and more “grades” popping up on store windows. Guess this place didn’t pass. GMAP

Yeah, you would know all about that.
As an unfortunate victim of many instances of food poisoning, I have to agree on this one. It’s an equal opportunity affliction. I’ve gotten awful food poisoning from Casa Mono in Union Square (bad clams), from buttered popcorn at the movie theater on Prospect Park West and 15th St., vanilla yogurt at TCBY, and I could go on… I think it probably has more to do with individual employees’ hygiene than anything else. That said, I’d still rather not eat somewhere that fails an inspection.
Great takeout burritos.
This is no surprise to me. The last two times I got take-out from here (the “super nachos”), I woke up in the middle of the night to throw up. Yes, I ordered them again after they got me sick the first time. For that, I have no argument. Fool me twice, shame on me.
totally not surprised about ozzies on 5th. the employees there always looked like they havent showered in weeks!

most of the times someone will get sick from eating from a restaurant has to do with one thing. if someone picked their butthole and then handled your food. call me chary if you must, but i bet you there is more butt to finger to food interaction in “A” restaurants than “C” restaurants.
also 65% of people who handle your food in restaurants don’t wash their hands properly (if at all) after using the bathroom. EW!

“Bakery cats”?? There is some kind of loophole that allows bakeries to have a cat? Damn, lots of places in this city could use a cat for help with mice – if there’s a loophole I need to know about it!
I’ve only gotten food poisoning from a restaurant once. It appeared to be quite clean, but little did I know I would end up the emergency room the next morning.
Ah, thanks Emily. I was afraid it was me. I just updated Firefox and Adobe Flashplayer and that didn’t help. Argh!
