Since we last took at look at 256 Court Street, the storefront has gotten some signage that confirms last spring’s post from Pardon Me for Asking. The name is a Karloff and it’s going to be a “cafe with an Eastern European accent,” according to the blog. Expect latkas, pierogies, baked goods, soups, and a juice bar. PMFA commented the place is “bound to be a success in the neighborhood.” Agree?

  1. The sign looks fancy, the store front is nasty and has nothing to do with the sign’s brand – the window frame looks like the outside of a Rite Aid.

That said I for one am happy this isnt going to be more italian and am looking forward to the soup selection.

  2. If I’m recognizing the building correctly from the picture, that’s right by the beer store, isn’t it?

Sounds like the food they’ll be serving is different from other stuff that’s already around, which could be a good sign. Not sure how a juice bar fits in with the Eastern European theme, though.

Because they know all about their business model & finances?????

  4. I don’t know; the name and the signage would indicate to me that this place should be a bit more upscale, and serve the kind of food you’d find at the cafe at the Neue Galerie museum in Manhattan. More Viennese stuff. Pierogies are more downscale and not what I’d expect to find at a place with this kind of fancy signage.
