There’s a ton of construction going on around the Bergen Street stop in Cobble Hill, with a laundromat coming, and two other buildings under construction on Bergen. As we first told you last November, one of those spaces, 68 Bergen, is going to be an Italian restaurant. While the construction has picked up steam in the last week or so, it looks like they still have a way to go before opening day.

oh please, like you people down in CG would welcome a gospel church with open arms?
fugggggetabouddit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it was bad enough the old fogie’s tried to rally against that pizza place hosting a weekly gay night. sheesh.
perhaps the church music just was reminder of the heathen that you are.
please trust me when i say the noise that church makes is very obnoxious – equal to or perhaps moreso than the places you mention. I used to live directly across the street. But as I said, this block has been lagging behind for a long time so it’s really nice to see it finally making improvements.
I’ll take the bait, lifer. Cobble Hill usually ended at Court Street. Certainly architecturally the houses and building east of Court Street are not in the same style as those west. I’d agree that this block (like many ebtween Smith and Court) in fact is neither here nor there, but if we have to give it a neighborhood, it’s more Boerum than Cobble.
yes, and CloverHill has live band last night with place wide open. as does Bar Tabac. as does that peruvian place. Besides the places that just open doors and let the taped amplified music play (Perks).
Pete – the church on this corner functions mostly on weeknights, and the noise goes on until 11pm. They utilize a live band as part of their service. And in the summertime them doors are wide open.
church only makes noise certain decent hours…restaurant and bars with outdoor space make noise more obnoiously into the wee hours. Some great carraige houses on the block I would kill for.
The block is a reminder that neighborhoods are(were) not just residential but there were manufacturing jobs, variety of purpose. These are urban neigbhorhoods….not the surburbia of your youth.
I personally prefer “South Brooklyn” what this area was called when I was young, so old age it is.
I used to live on that block and i do agree it’s a nasty one. But every little bit helps – it started with that “cheap art” gallery / flea market. This new restaurant will also help, I think. Anything is better than boarded up buildings. Will be interesting to see how this place fares with the OTT noise coming from the church 2 doors down. They ain’t going anywhere.
