Tomorrow’s a big day in the southeastern corner of Clinton Hill. As The Local reported earlier this week, there will be a public lease-signing ceremony for the Greene Hill Food Co-op on Saturday at 10 a.m. at its new home at 18-24 Putnam Avenue (at Downing Street). Co-op members approved the new location at a meeting back in July.

  1. That’s not western Fort Greene. But even from there, your numbers are wrong: it’s 1.1 miles to PSFC and 1.0 to GHFC. Essentially the same distance. Maybe you don’t know where PSFC is? It’s on Union between 6th and 7th.

From BAM, which is what I had in mind for western Fort Greene, they’re both the same distance (1 mile).

  2. In the interest of fairness and accuracy I google-mapped it. If you were to live on South Portland by Fort Greene Park it is 1.1 miles to the Greene Hills coop location and 1.6 miles to the Park Slope coop location.

  3. Check it out on a map zinka–even the farthest reaches of far west Fort Greene are much closer to this location than the Park Slope coop. I mean the combined area of Fort Greene and Clinton hill is a speck compared to the area of what is considered Park Slope, or Bed stuy.

But yes its very good news. I was worried that they had approved the location but then hadn’t signed the lease yet/

  4. Super intelligent comment Randolph. I am sure I would qualify as a yuppy in some people’s minds and I live right around the corner from here. As do many people of a similar demographic. Never been mugged yet.
