Beny's Delice on Fulton Open for Business
Remember the gourmet shop we noticed at 903 Fulton earlier this month? Well, it’s got its signage up and is open for business. Named Beny’s Delice, the upscale cafe is offering a selection of quiche, sandwiches, tarts, croissants, coffee, and the like. Has anyone tried it yet? Gourmet Shop for Fulton [Brownstoner] GMAP

I had a delicious apple-topped pastry t Beny’s. I think it will take them some time to get the portions and prices right. In particular, salads seem small for the price. I also hope they don’t fall into the classic newbie trap of leaving food out too long with the hope of selling it. The result is the experience bigappleblu describes, which ultimately leads to customers not returning.
I am delighted. The coffee is good; he is a nice guy and they make all their own pastries — he was a pastry chef in Manhattan somewhere. He is trying to get a sense it seems what he can sell there. The place is attractive, a little expensive but nice stuff. The first day he gave me a little bag of free creme broule little pastries (maybe to get rid of me) after I stood there going on an on about how happy and excited I was to have him there, how we had been living in a retail/service desert over there, that gradually it was getting better and better blah blah blah. They are also open from 7 am to 10 pm. Obviously not afraid of hard work! good luck to them!!!
I have never hear this word, “Delice” before. WTF does it mean?
Mais, oui!:)
Heather! Your coffee place finally right?
I’m happy. Merci beaucoup, and hallelujah.
(Oh yeah, and get half and half for the coffee :))
On a tangent, did you all know in ireland they have no idea what half and half is?
Haven’t tried this place, but visually, the brown awnings and matching plant are a nice touch.
Have been in there every morning since it opened! I am SOOO thrilled that this is steps from my place, and yes, the “yuppie” coffee is great – even the iced! While I am still loyal to the nice guys at Yafa, I will get my coffee at Beny’s also.
The delicious apple turnover was $1.50 the first day I got it, but now it’s $2.25. The grainy bread with butter and cherry jam was yummy and a nice breakfast option to-go, and the tuna nicoise salad could do with better olives (NOT the canned black ones please). I also bought the tabouli salad to-go today, but wasn’t very happy with its 3-day old taste.
The friand today was a tasty looking pear and goat cheese but at $6.25 seemed overpriced.
I’d say their homerun item right now is the generous ham & cheese croissant!
Keep up the good work Beny’s!
Yes, it’s very good. Had some great pastries there, the real deal – true French patisserie fair, as well as savory stuff (haven’t tried the savory, but it looked good). Owners/operators are some French guys. Good place to get coffee in the a.m. too.
