  1. Oh? And your first post where your said “If you can’t figure out a way to get to the games via mass transit, then you’re probably too stupid to be driving a car anyway.” wasn’t the first post to start calling people stupid? How many times and on how many threads have you not called anti-AY posters names. Or insisted they wanted no development no matter how many times they said they want development, just not Ratner’s version of it. YOu don’t like it either but in all the many posts you have written, in many threads, you simply heap scorn on those who are against Ratner. No one is allowed to disagree with you and get a civil response. YOu set the parameters for these discussions, then cry innocent. Nice ploy but anyone can go back in the archives and read what you’ve written. I’m finished- a useful conversation on this subject is impossible.

  2. Anonymous 10:01 threw the first punch. He seeks conformity through coercion. His arguments are laced with venom. Long story short, if you’re pro AY then you’re obviously a sell out. As a “sell out” the anti-development posse are then at liberty to dump on you with impunity. It’s par for the course. They can be a mean and brutal bunch!

  3. Anon at 9:02- I guess you haven’t bothered to read Brownbomber’s posts. And it also looks like Mr. B eliminated the Brownbomber post that I was quoting. However, Brownbomber is one first one to start by calling differing opinions “stupid”- see BB 12:04-“If you can’t figure out a way to get to the games via mass transit, then you’re probably too stupid to be driving a car anyway.”

The more people differed, the more offensive he got. Sorry you didn’t see the posts that were removed. Believe me I don’t use those terms normally, but only in response.

  4. “You’re one impressive guy. Delusional, schizophrenic, ignorant AND callous.”

“The most pompous, elitist a**holes on the blog…”

“Only a fool would think he is getting objective talk from those executives.”

“Why else would he shill so shamelessly?”

    “BrownBomber, are you Bruce Ratner?”

Anonymous, I’m anti-AY but I find some of your comments offensive, degrading and very confrontational. Let’s stay above the fray and not stoop down to this level; it doesn’t further our cause at all….

  5. Sorry Brownbomber- not happy. I wouldn’t get so vehement if you tried to phrase things differently. But you just cut down anyone with a different opinion instead of respecting that fact that people do have different opinions. Why can’t you ever try stating things civilly. Its a free country- people are entitled to not want Ratner’s little project. At least not at that price.

Just a thought- nowhere do I say I speak for everyone- Brownbomber is the one who does that and I am still waiting for the numbers to back his assertion that “The entire borough, with the exceptions of a few anti-development hardliners, eagerly awaits the Brooklyn Nets’ arrival.” I only asked for proof. I have no vested interest in AY except as a Brooklynite. I don’t believe in having the Nets at any price. Maybe you and Brownbomber but once the AY development is done, its done. And it will be huge and ugly and put enormous strain on the area. Frankly I think the size and scale of AY is obscene- even Brownbomber does too. If you think that puts me on the moral high ground sobeit. All that says is you realize your priorities are skewed.

Arena fine. Housing fine. Frank Gehry’s design- horrible. If getting the arena means taking the Gehry design too, I’d rather wait. Doesn’t mean I don’t want to see development or anything else go there- something that Brownbomber constantly asserts. (I won my office pool too LVP- how many posts before Brownbomber trotted out his “if you don’t like AY then you don’t want any development” argument).

So maybe you guys could act more adult in your posts instead of insulting others and inspiring them to respond in kind.

  6. greed, brainwashing, and corruption is not dead, for it is defended here on brownstoner! amen to the zombie faction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! here’s to everyone marching to the ratner beat.

  7. Anonymous, I don’t know who is shilling more; you or BrownBomber! IMHO Anon you appear to have an equally vested interest in the outcome of AY. BB is pro and you’re con. Please relieve yourself of the self-appointed role of moral authority on the subject matter. You don’t speak for ALL of Brooklyn either. I happen to be a big sports fan and while I agree that the scale of AY is quite monstrous, I’m very excited about the prospect about having my very own sports team just a couple of blocks away. The national attention that this arena will draw to Brooklyn with its gorgeous buildings and bustling businesses is well needed. In addition perhaps once the arena is in place folks will be motivated to clean up Atlantic Avenue beyond CH. Once that’s done we’ll have a continuous sweep of great neighborhoods from FG to CH to Brownstone Bed-Stuy to Stuyvesant Heights. Who wouldn’t want that?

  8. Okay, anonymous let’s agree to disagree. You’re not going to change my opinion and I certainly will not change yours. I’m sure after reading this thread some bloggers will think that I’m an a**hole and an equal amount would surely think that you’re an a**hole too! Agreed – you and I are both a**holes! Happy?!?
