Ferry Plan Excludes Bay Ridge [Eagle]
Tina, It is near the corner of 5 Ave and Carroll St. It’s on the left side of Carroll if you’re headed towards the park.
wow, go PS9 parents! i have to admit i’m surprised they won their appeal against co-locating a charter school in their building. will be interesting to see what the DOE’s next move is.
Tina, I don’t know exactly, but from the Neo-Romanesque architectural style, somewhere between Union/2nd street, by Seventh or Eighth avenue would be my guess.
Does anyone know what street is in the photo?
“we can also dredge up the history textbooks”
haha Ditto.
“(But why would anyone care if there’s no ferry service from Bay Ridge?)”
There was a ferry from the 69th Street Pier recent enough that some people want service returned just because. It’s like those people in Greenpernt that want the “Penny Bridge” replaced–they don’t really want to walk to Long Island City; they want part of their history back.
To keep ferry costs low we could just refurbish the WWII 19th century sailing air/sea vessel chimera at the bottom of the Gowanus. Hopefully we can also dredge up the history textbooks that the Brooklyn Eagle reporter clearly dumped into the canal in his youth.
The reporting in the Brooklyn Paper is so stupid, it’s embarassing.
screw ferries. Swim if you want water transportation.
