Cool Minard. So you can read dutch? I guess the first words say something like “Here Lies…”. Is that correct? Because if you look at the one to the right it also begins with the same two words.
wasder, I didn’t realilze there were such old memorials in Greenwood. This one is for Lichaem Remsen huisvion (husband) of Aris Remsen…laid to rest 26th August 1777.
English memorials of the period had very similar carvings.
I didn’t realize Greenwood had such old stuff – time for me to pay a visit
MM—its in Greenwood. I think these are some of the oldest tombstones in the cemetery. I loved the worn look and the colors, as well as the dutch writing and the funny graphics so I got down on my belly to get a good angle. They are very small stones, only a foot and half tall or so. Anyway, that’s the story. Thanks!
Brooklyn was once Dutch so why couldn’t it be here? It looks like the resting place of members of the Remsen Family.
It is Dutch so it’s probably somewhere around here.
Pieter Stuyvesant (1612-1672)
somehow I’m betting that isn’t brooklyn pic.
denton, they haven’t paid a divi since Dec 08. Yes, the stock may have run its course. We sold half our position around $11.00
I think it’s the Brownstoner Blogicide Resting Grounds. I think I can make out Sam’s tombstone in the back there.
