Ice Cream Shop Emack & Bolio's Opening in Fort Greene
Signs for the new store went up over the weekend.
Fort Greene is getting a new ice cream shop.
The chain Emack & Bolio’s will soon be opening a new location at 741 Fulton Street. Signs for the new store went up over the weekend. The interior is being renovated.
It will take the place of Area Kids, a children’s toy store that opened in 2012 and closed earlier this year.
Emack & Bolio’s, which began in Massachusetts, has another store in Brooklyn Heights that opened in 2015 and two locations in Manhattan, in addition to their many locations in and around Boston and a few international locations.
It was created by Bob Rook, a music lawyer who has worked with acts such as Aerosmith, Boston, The Cars, U2, James Brown and Al Green. The goal of the store, according to their website, was to create a space where people could satisfy their “midnight munchie blues.”
The store will fill a gap in Fort Greene, where there is a lack of ice cream shops. Fort Grace, the ice cream shop that was attached to now-shuttered General Greene on Dekalb Avenue seems to be permanently gone. Republic of Booza on Willoughby serves Mediterranean-style ice cream.
