A motorcyclist was killed this morning at around 7 a.m. when he (we assume) was struck by a taxi heading east on Atlantic Avenue between Hoyt and Bond Streets. As of 9:30 this morning, Atlantic Avenue was shut down in both directions between Smith Street and Flatbush Avenue, causing a series of reverberating traffic jams on all the major thoroughfares in the area.
fgp – even if you knew it was him, if you are not immediate family, they wouldn’t release any info.
But chances are…and let’s hope…its not him and just a coincidence it occurred where he sometimes rides.
I walked by this accident at about 7 this morning. The motorcycle was flattened but the taxi was barely dented. Poor rider.
It wasn’t clear to me why the road was shut in both directions since there was no debris and the taxi was in the parking lane and the motorcycle on the sidewalk. Big trucks were trying to navigate the narrow turns off from Hoyt Street and onto Dean. Traffic was a mess.
is there anyway to find out who this was? my friend rides around there in the a.m. and i’m concerned for him.
Maybe because they’re investigating the scene of a potential crime scene (vehicular manslaughter comes to mind)?
Was that really hard to figure out dibs?
I ride a bike and yep, that area is extremely dangerous. So sorry.
The stretch on Atlantic between Hoyt and Flatbush is the worst – sorry for the poor guy.
fuck…you got any more details?
As much as this is a very tragic event, why the hell do the police need to close a major thoroughfare IN BOTH DIRECTIONS and for so long???
This is always their typical lazy ass way of not actually thinking just doing what they know best.
that hurts.
