Equinox Two Restaurants Gowanus

Two new restaurants — and a gym to work off the good eats — are coming to Brooklyn.

A new facade and signage for Barrel and Fare has appeared at the former location of Cantina Mexican Restaurant at 494 4th Avenue. An unfinished website for the restaurant lists wine, craft beer, and “fresh new tastes” as the restaurant’s soon-to-be-offered fare.

A Brownstoner tipster who noticed the altered exterior guessed it sounded like an English style pub.

The same observant tipster noticed Peruvian restaurant Surfish is opening a second location in Gowanus, pictured above, at 14th Street and 3rd Avenue. Our tipster spoke with a woman at Surfish’s existing location at 351 5th Avenue, and she told him the original location will focus on rotisserie chicken, while the new spot will have Surfish’s existing menu.

Lastly, Equinox is coming to developer Two Trees Management’s building at 55 Washington Street in Dumbo. The fitness chain, which already has more than 25 locations in Brooklyn and Manhattan, anticipates the 22,000-square-foot space will open in the spring of 2016.
