Tina Roth Eisenberg, who designs and blogs under the company name Swissmiss, is a Swiss designer gone NYC. She and her family live in Boerum Hill, and her blog is an interesting pastiche of very modern product design and graphic arts. Recently, she posted photos and a link to this Swiss manufacturer of the coolest modern fireplaces I’ve ever seen. Check out her site, as well as the site for Rutz Feuerstellen. Now all I need is some serious Euros, and some Brooklyn loft space.

My word, Rob. That’s a helluva bathroom.
I don’t care what wigged-out architects or designers say. This minimalist style sucks. It was first invented by 1930’s Germans who were not exactly known for their humane tendencies and it appeals to people today who seek an irrational level of control or who are germ-freaks or who are improperly medicated.
this is a beautiful bathroom that was featured apparently on brownstoner a while back! lol

I think minimal modern tends to get a bad wrap because a lot of unimaginative designers tend to execute it in all white when it need not be that way. I think that minimal modern and colorful are not mutually exclusive terms.
Here’s a modern minimal bathroom that I think is sleek and stunning:

Minimalist modern can be quite comforting/soothing in the right hands. My objection mostly has to with the unrelenting “white” imposed.
