Tina Roth Eisenberg, who designs and blogs under the company name Swissmiss, is a Swiss designer gone NYC. She and her family live in Boerum Hill, and her blog is an interesting pastiche of very modern product design and graphic arts. Recently, she posted photos and a link to this Swiss manufacturer of the coolest modern fireplaces I’ve ever seen. Check out her site, as well as the site for Rutz Feuerstellen. Now all I need is some serious Euros, and some Brooklyn loft space.

…ok, but only if it’s a Bang and Olufsen!,
Lincoln,
Of course you are correct that the Bauhaus group was anti-Nazi and were, indeed, run out of Germany by by Nazis.
However, in MF’s defense, MF never insinuated that the German “inventor’s” of modern architecture had Nazi sympathies. He just said they were 1930 Germans. The insinuation, at least to me, is that people are influenced by their society even though they may be opposed to that society. No?
Two gallons of paint are going to run about $100. I know exactly what I can get for that.
I’m just bored with the drab yellow color.
“Add a 100 gallon fish tank with only a couple of large Koi, a McIntosh Amplifier with retro vacum tubes and a DDD version of Mozart’s 40th or his Don Giovanni”
Legion, if you’re gonna use tubes, then dump that DDD crap and get a turntable!
…hummm, so Albert Speer had a side business in interior design?
you learn something new on Brownstoner every day!
Is it considered minimialist if you can’t afford more than one piece of furniture?
3:32:
I never linked the Bauhaus with the Nazis that was demented Rob!
It will be a cool day in hades when you give me pointers on architectural history.
Dave,
Nice parlor!
Like Minard, I vote “no” on the turquoise question.
Why paint at all?
It looks great as it is.
Take the money you would spend on the paint and do something really fun!
Fly to Paris?
Subscribe to the Metropolitan opera?
Buy a case of 1990 Chateau Montrose?
“don’t care what wigged-out architects or designers say. This minimalist style sucks. It was first invented by 1930’s Germans who were not exactly known for their humane tendencies”
MF – you have no clue about design and the history of this style. If you are referring to the Bauhaus, then you need to check your history. Gropius and company were run out of Germany by the Nazi’s in the 1930s.
It’s fine if you like your interior design sourced at Home Depot, but try and get your facts straight.
