  1. “Minard;

    I repeat: there is no Italian word (or phrase) for the concept of “meatball”. As I write this I am looking at my Penguin Cambridge Italian dictionary, and re-confirmed this point. The fact that there is no word or phrase for this item ought to say something.”

    “Also, again I ask everyone to go the the Penguin Concise Cambridge Italian dictionary edited by Barbara Reynolds(which is both Italian-English) and vice-versa. Look up the phrase “Meatball” and see if there is any listing.”

    You deviated twice from your original statement.

    So I repeat yes there is such a thing as meatballs in Italy. They are called polpette. They are not typically made from beef and are not typically paired with Spaghetti.
