Williamsburg
A new grocery store called Williamsburg Food Town is opening on North 3rd and Metropolitan, according to Brooklyn 11211. A fancy cocktail bar, named Post Office, has opened at 188 Havemeyer and The Brooklyn Star is soon opening in new digs; Gothamist has pictures of both. Also, Free Williamsburg welcomes Moomba to the neighborhood, a pizza and small plates joint at 232 North 12th. Nearby in Bushwick, Bushwick BK reports that a “Chop’t-like salad bar” is coming to the corner of Irving Avenue and Starr Street.

Park Slope
Here’s Park Slope brought word that Heights Coffee on Flatbush Avenue appeared to have called it quits but Patch found out the spot is just closed for renovations. Here’s Park Slope also reports on the re-opening of Harry Boland’s Pub and the shutter of Lemongrass Grill. Finally, a new establishment called Bare Burgers is coming to 7th Avenue and 1st Street, in the old Artisesana storefront (pictured). The news begs the question of how many burger spots are actually needed to feed Brooklyn….

Prospect Heights
The Kimchi Taco Truck is opening a bricks-and-mortar establishment on Washington Avenue, according to Prospect Heights Patch. Also, very exciting news from Eater that two chefs from Chelsea’s Morimoto are heading to the neighborhood to open a ramen shop. The blog One Hanson Place also reports a new restaurant is coming to the southeast corner of Dean and Underhill, perhaps a little competition for Dean Street post Nate Smith.

Click through for details on the return of Monte’s, an arcade in Sunset Park, and some openings in Crown Heights…

Over in Gowanus, the person opening a restaurant in the old Monte’s space on Carroll Street tells the Brooklyn Paper that he’s going to keep the “Monte’s” handle and the focus will be on “new Italian” cuisine. The space is currently getting a facelift. In Sunset Park, Gothamist reports that Chinatown Fair Arcade has relocated there from Manhattan, and it’s now called Next Level Arcade. The Brooklyn Ink wonders if Sheepshead Bay can live without a Pathmark, and Brooklynian commenters welcome a nail salon and Thai restaurant to Crown Heights. And of course, NY1 has the good news that the boardwalk eight have renewed their summer leases on the Coney Island boardwalk.

  1. Etson – haaaaa! I agree tooo many burger bars

11217 – to continue our convo from the other day about Spumoni Gardens possibly opening up on 7th and 19th – you might be right. We drove by there last night (on our way to mim’is hummus in DP) The store most likely would go on the side of the street where the car wash and donut shop is – there seems to be new construction and permits listed on the construction site, however it was night so I couldn’t really see much – but something is happening there – that would be TOTALLY awesome is SG moved in there

  2. There’s a dozen burger places but other than Dram, none of ’em are what I want – a decent bar with a good burger, decent taps and quiet enough to watch the occasional game on the telly.

Thistle – OK but tiny bar. Bonnies – good n the burger front, but not really a hangout kinda joint. Flipsters – kinda pricey for what it is but at least it has OK beer now.

    Is it me?

  3. I’m not sure how I feel about Post Office bar. Maybe it’s the cognitive dissonance that comes with being in a new bar that strives to look old. Surroundings that say “we’ve been here awhile,” with service and menu that says, “we’re still working out the kinks.” Plus, serving ketchup with a grilled cheese is kinda odd.

I also noticed a sign went up on Flatbush Avenue right next to Brooklyn Larder that says a “Burger 67” is coming soon. I’ve had the one in Ft. Greene and it’s pretty good.

Bare Burger is REALLY great actually. Way too many burger places, but happy to see an excellent one opening up on 7th. Plus it’s right next door to the new South Brooklyn Pizza which is opening a shop literally on that same corner of 7th Avenue and 1st Street.
