The L Magazine released a 50 Best Blocks in Brooklyn article today and man, does it cover everything. Best block for ugly condos? (4th Avenue between 4th and 5th.) For Righting History’s Wrongs? (Malcolm X between Monroe and Madison.) How about for people watching? (Fulton and Lafayette.) The last five blocks listed are those best to live on: Verandah Place in Cobble Hill, Oak Street in Greenpoint, Columbia Heights in Brooklyn Heights, Argyle Road in Ditmas Park, and finally Fillmore Place in Williamsburg. What say you? Have they missed any categories?

  1. “As Etson says, 3rd Street between 7th and PPW are often regarded in other lists of the most beautiful blocks in Brooklyn…

I don’t understand how one could even argue with that.”

I hate “best of….” lists like this. the categories are obviously created with certain blocks in mind. the village voice always does that stuff too.

  2. I think the stretch between Henry and Court between 1st and 4th places to be quite dreamy – same for the smith to Hoyt set but add some blocks north of 1st too – Veranda is great as is Grace Court.
