Closing Bell: Stoop for Rod and Gun Club
A reader pointed out that Cobble Hill’s Rod and Gun Club, previously sans stoop, has got a new one. The stairs on either side, along with the built up brick is fairly uncommon for the area. Do you like it?

I’ve been having the sticky keys issue too – only on firefox though
#2 (how appropriate),
It passed landmarks because it is 100% historically accurate. Exact.
But if you got a problem….come on in!
Minard….sticky keys? You mean when you type on Brownstoner??
Cause that was happening to me the other day on my computer at home and I thought my computer was about to die. Almost took it into apple to have them check it…
You mean it’s a brownstoner.com issue?
it isn’t finished yet, so one cannot be certain.
but so far I like it, it looks like it was designed with care.
The solid parapets provide good defenses in case they have to protect the building from Gen. Santa Anna’s army.
the sticky keys are driving me crazy….what is going on?
Also, doesn’t brick darken as it ages?
11217, I agree, regarding the design and quality of the stoop. However, regarding the color of the brick, if you look at the tree in the picture you can see quite a bit of glare from the sun, which is possibly making the brick on the front of the stoop look lighter than it actually is. If you look at the samll patch of brick on the lower right side of the stoop (in the shade) it looks like they did at least try to match the color of the building.
They have guns! No-one will complain, not even the side windows whiners.
No.
Make it historically accurate recreation or make it new. This is neither. Surprised they got this past landmarks, actually.
Would have been nicer if the brick even remotely matched the house.
Otherwise, I like the design and quality (at least from the photo) looks good.
