Closing Bell: Read All About It
A tipster alerted us to what she thought was a newspaper kiosk on 9th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues. It has “Cemusa” written on the side, which is apparently an award winning street furniture company. This picture was taken last week, has there been any headway made on it since?

Awww Bennie. Did you send in the tip?
Not sure how well a newspaper kiosk would do in that location. There’s already a newsstand/lotto/cold drink/ciggy place on the southwest corner of 5th ave and 9th, another on the northeast corner of 5th Ave and 9th, Rite Aid selling the same stuff on 5th Ave and 10th, and CVS selling the same stuff mere yards away from this kiosk on 9th between 5th and 6th. With all those places right there in existence to buy ciggies, mags, cold water/soda, lotto, etc., this kiosk better have some kick ass prices. And yes, last I recall, the place on the southwest corner of 5th and 9th has spank material for all you dirty boys out there 🙂
“With all due respect…”
Really, who are you trying to kid?
You’re looking for “soul” from a news kiosk? I’m just asking.
Does the CVS sell Bootylicious Mag?
seriously benson – that news kiosk is so souless.
Denton,
Yes, these have been in Brooklyn. This one (below) is on Court Street (in Downtown Brooklyn) and was installed in 2007. And the CEMUSA Bus shelters have been put at nearly every stop. The writer of this post makes it sound like this is the first time they’ve ever heard of CEMUSA.

I find the kiosk to be rather non-contextual for Park Slope. Ditto for the nudie magazines.
funny, I just took a pic today and was gonna send it in. No, it hasn’t changed, except *rob* knocked over all the barrels.
11217, I disagree. Yes, these are all over Manhattan. Are there any in Downtown Brooklyn? Can’t think of any of these new style ones. I could be wrong.
imo this is another step in the Manhattan-ization of Park Slope, and is therefore newsworthy.
