Closing Bell: No Sleep Til Breuckelen

This is a waste of NYC transit resources.

About 10 years ago, someone stuck replacement stickers over some of the black stickers inside the subway cars… you know… the stickers that tell you not to lean on the door and not to ride between cars and stuff like that…
The new stickers had cute little messages about how to be a better person.
It was awesome.
The MTA talks about no money. I always wondered why back in the late 70’s early 80’s the subway signs were white with black letters, then they started to change all of the signs to black with white letters. I don’t know about everyone, but I could read the signs just the same with the black letters.
That to me was a complete waste of money.
No the Chambers St JMZ is truly the worst I’ve ever seen. I think they’re just waiting for it to fall down. Makes thses look spiffy by comparison.

The only station I’ve seen worse than that one is the Bowery JMZ.
sometimes i get out at the bowery JMZ in the morning if i take the M train into work from brooklyn.. it never seemed that bad… like dirty wise… it is one of the creepier stations because it’s always so empty even during rush hour. sometimes ill be the only one getting out of the train at 9am in the morning! it’s like a scene out of some sci fi movie. is the M train the line they want to cut cuz of low rideship?
*rob*
It’s a Knickerbocker prank! Those old Anglo-Dutch can be a scream after a little hard cider.
Just yesterday I made the (digitally-mediated) acquaintance of “Bitch Cakes,” who lives in Greenpoint. Her two blogs were entertaining for an hour or so, maybe longer or shorter for others. The self-portraits in a slip are slightly titillating, and more power to her for getting to that place. Although she hails from the Bronx, she may be, as Marty Markowitz likes to say, “as Brooklyn as it gets”–whatever the heck that means.
Holy crap! I think that that MTA should care less about Breuckelen/Brooklyn and more about the condition of that station.
Maybe the MTA could engage those artists proactively and use one of them to fix that tile wall!
totally agree Rob! they should forget about the sticker, which I assume is the old dutch spelling? fairly harmless. if they going to spend any money why wouldn’t they clean up that f’ing station! what an eyesore!
That’s the 21st/Van Alst station in LIC Rob. It’s a pretty crappy station – not like most of the other G Stations on the line.
