“How sweet it is,” says our tipster, who sent in this photo of the new digital subway signs at the Nevins Street stop. And we agree… waiting for the subway is a little more bearable when you at least know how late it’s gonna be!

  1. sorry but it has the opposite effect for me. if i see 6 minutes to go flashing, that’s going to be a really annoying 6 minutes of waiting. id rather be surprised.

    waste of money.

  2. Sterling St (2/5) has had them for a few months now. It’s a little depressing when you see that the next train is coming in 15 minutes – at least when you don’t know when it’s coming you can always hope it will be soon, bu here it’s not like you can do anything else to while away the time. I agree – it would be nice to to have them at by the token booth or above ground, so you could know BEFORE you pay $2.2.5 if you have time to grab a cup of coffee or something first.

  3. “What would ACTUALLY be nice is if they had these monitors ABOVE ground. So you can decide whether or not to go down into the nasty hole. Or wait where the temperature is 25 degrees cooler (or call a cab).”

some of the L stations (maybe all, not sure) have them before the turnstiles, as well as computer screens showing you the position of trains along the route. makes much more sense than only having them on the platform – since you can save your fare if there are major problems.
