We’d never realized that the Michael Jackson video for ‘Bad’ was filmed in the Hoyt-Schermerhorn subway station. The Downtown Brooklyn Partnership is trying to make sure everyone knows it: The group is planning to commission a huge mural at the entrance to the busy station in tribute to the Scorcese-directed vid. “The art could be the size of a huge mural and possibly rely on lights and projection at nighttime,” DBP president Joe Chan told The Post.

  1. They do a lot of filming there still (commercials are common) because they can run trains between there and the transit museum without disturbing regular service. Nobody wants a big mural of MJ in their breath mint commercial, so I think the mural idea is “Bad”. My understanding is that the original design was for the local to terminate at Borough Hall (the transit museum) and only the express cross to Manhattan, but it didn’t take long for everyone to hate the idea.

  2. I didn’t know he filmed it there and had wondered why the campaign for this station . ..

My real question is — can someone please tell me what that word is that he says, sings? “Shamone”? I hope this isn’t common knowledge . .. . Be nice if it is!

  3. “The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has no subway stations in its system named or co-named after individuals, mostly because it could confuse riders, agency officials said.”

If rider confusion is a concern, they could start with the 110th Street station on the 1. That stop has 3 different names, all immortalized in tile.
