Closing Bell: New Park for Navy Yard
The Brooklyn Navy Yard has a new artist-designed park. Located across from an old WWII machine shop, the new space comprises three tables and ten benches made of recycled ship parts; even the barbecue lid was crafted by sculptor Michelle Greene from an old transmitter box. Nomi, will “I’m visiting Nomi’s studio” get me in?
Right. I don’t know. Though I do know that many of the buildings are unlocked. That would have to change if people were roaming around. And, yes, tons of construction, probably liability reasons. But don’t know for sure.
Right, why such stringent security measures? Due to all of the construction? I can understand not being able to access the individual office buildings, but what about the grounds?
The public can visit, but you have to tell the security booth people who you are visiting. Security.
That was to denton if it’s not obvious.
Man you are a downer. The Navy Yard has not been a working navy yard in over 40 years.
Why is it that the public isnt allowed inside the Navy Yard?
Is this inside the Navy Yard enclosure? If so it is only for employees I assume, not for the public.
Nice. A fitting monument to the destruction of America’s manufacturing capability.
