“In a world where Japanese slow drip coffee, manual espresso machines and perfect foam hearts on every latte are now de rigueur, pouring coffee has become more than just your average after-school job, but an artistic exercise that may be a little more than the Gorilla coffee employees signed up for.”
Artistic exercise???????
eh, I feel for the barista but they were so unfriendly to customers to begin with. Beside, the place 1) served mediocre coffee and espresso drinks (at best). 2) was always annoyingly busy and slow. 3) was just such a “scene” I never wanted to be there. I’m hoping they’re closed for a long while and it encourages a good coffee house to open north of the Numbers. we need one here. badly.
You can make a great tasting cup of Cappuccino at home but the aesthetics of the presentation (different types of designs, little to no air bubbles, etc.) is definitely a skill that has to be learned from someone.
they are busy cracking the whip training the new barista batch to make foamy hearts.
I hope the usual suspects don’t once again hijack this thread with bad puns!
“barista community” give me a f’ing break.
you’re barely one step above someone working the french fry vat at mcdonalds.
*rob*
great coffee anyway
I used to go there in 2004 a lot. Then it turned into some kind of scene, a scene I didn’t understand.
Whatever they play, do it at less ear shattering volume!
