Closing Bell: Gettin' Hitched Dumbo Style
Earlier this week, the blog Dumbo NYC published a guest post from a Dumbo resident growing greatly concerned over the amount of limos double parked in the neighborhood for wedding events, as well as film shoots taking up the limited amount of parking. Earlier this week, the blog Dumbo NYC published a guest post from a Dumbo resident growing greatly concerned over the amount of limos double parked in the neighborhood for wedding events, as well as film shoots taking up the limited amount of parking. Brooklynites don’t need much proof that Dumbo is a wedding hotspot, but here’s some anyway, again via Dumbo NYC: “Stretched Hummer + extra story + extra axel + outdoor seating area.” Oy vey.
Brenda, water is synonymous with money in Chinese culture…water is good luck.
The lack of craftsmanship is appalling. The “a” and “d” pillars are all wrong. The chimney stacks are completely useless. And though the doors aren’t open I think it’s pretty obvious those aren’t Lambo doors. Lame.
dibs, the weddings are not done there, couples like to come and have their formals taken with the BB and/or the Manhattan skyline as a backdrop. For some strange reason, Koreans especially come here.
Partly this is NYPD/DOHS fault. You used to be able to go under the Brooklyn Bridge across the street from the park, now that is closed for security reasons. That forces everyone onto the Fulton Ferry landing there.
I think that’s more hip-hop than white trash, but I imagine gays will want to take the same pix everyone else does, hence, more people.
This is not a wedding picture but I shot this couple under there… they love Brooklyn.

Slick – is it for luck? Lay it on us.
Wedding photos have been taken here for a looong time. And with the River Cafe being there is/was a popular venue for wedding receptions. What’s the complaint? Uptick in wedding parties or the vehicle itself?
Are the certain cultures Asian? Seriously, I notice a preponderance of Asian wedding parties both by the lake in Prospect Park and down at Fulton Landing…wondered if there was a cultural belief in good fortune for newlyweds by water or something. I figured it was just because the scenery was lovely.
Not ‘DUMBO Style’, that’s WT & Ghetto Style.

Success [gentrifcation] breeds contempt [NIMBY].
certain cultures want to take wedding pictures by bodies of water. fulton landing is one of the best spots in the city.
