This month it’s the Crown Heights Film Festival! Cameraman Pedro Martí and curator Erin Gleason established this festival in 2009 in efforts to create a social forum in the Crown Heights neighborhood. This year, the 70 chosen films include feature length and short narratives, animations, documentaries, cross disciplinary/experimental films and children’s films. There is specifically a Young Filmmakers Day to showcase those films made by or for children and teenagers. There will also be live music performances, video art installations, workshops, talks and closing festivities along with the films. Mark your calendars: The 2012 festival season runs Tuesday, Oct. 30, through Saturday, Nov. 10. Events will take place at art spaces FreeCandy, The Candy Rush and FiveMyles. The suggested donation at the door for film events is just $7. You can check out all the details at the CHFF website.
