Bija Kids Yoga is opening a studio near the corner of Fulton and Washington in Clinton Hill at the beginning of April. This will be the first full-time studio in Brooklyn devoted to children’s yoga. Bija will also hold children’s classes like music and art and will host a summer camp and birthday parties. The grand opening party is planned for April 15th. GMAP

  1. All you folks mocking kids yoga, you need to sit still and breathe for a bit. Maybe even some alternate nostril breathing for some balance. Yes it sounds funny, but Bija is great. Think about it: you bend your body into animal shapes, stand on your head, and chant funny-sounding words (actually, not even sure bija does any chanting). That’s certainly appealing for some kids. My kid did a week of bija summer camp years ago (this is not bija’s forst location, btw) and had a great time.

  2. One of my nursery-school age nieces already has some of the same balance issues that led me to yoga in the first place, so I taught her some poses while I was babysitting. Now both nieces come after me for more “yoga tricks” when I visit. It’s just another way to be active for them.
