garden
The rain this week hasn’t helped the progress in the garden. Over the past couple of days though, our contractor was able to smooth out the soil and lay out the bluestone patio while bringing in the sod and the lattice fence. Hope it clears up soon!

  1. A covered sandbox is no problem. Step2 make a great combo sand & water table with a cover. We got it for our daughter 2yrs ago and it is still going strong. During the winter we moved it indoors and filled it with rice instead of sand.

  2. i never mentioned anything about over-education (i am overeducated myself, but english is not my native language, so please exscuse my typo) and the title of this blog, for reference, is “Brownstoner, Brooklyn Inside and Out”.

i do agree that its what you make of it, and that’s what i plan to do, thanks for the input.

  3. stephen,
it’s what people make it. you want to contribute something relevant and constructive great. you want to grouse? you just add to the vibe you described above. also, your choice to read or not to read…
btw, its nonsense, without the “e” after “n”…(i too am overeducated yoga pant wearing!)

  4. this is the most dissapointing blog i’ve found about real estate/urban life since i’ve moved to nyc. i think the nonesense above reinforces the stereotype of boring, yoga-pants wearing, far too priviledged people with nothing in their lives but their brownstone. something tells me this blog is supposed to be about much more than this.

  5. Could we see this posted as a continuation of the renovation blog section, maybe with more photos? That sewer trap photo depresses me. I have been seeing lots of sales on lawn furniture lately. For the kids I have seen these smaller size wood pic nic tables that you can buy unfinished. You could paint it fire engine red or maybe an Yves Klein Blue. I hate all that rubbermaid junk. As your kids grow up your garden will help them understand the cycles of life and the changes in the season. I still remember my grandmother teaching me the names of the flowers and the songs of birds like it was yesterday. To be able to plant seeds and nurture them along…to be able to harvest your own sunflower seeds and tomatoes …priceless. For example, we have had a wood pecker residing somewhere along 16th St. this past week. I said to my 20 month old, “Listen, hear the wood pecker?” The next day we heard him again and this time my son said babababababa, imitating the sound of the bird pecking on the wood. Enjoy.
