Riders of the F and G lines in Brooklyn have a tough few months ahead. As part of the MTA’s plans to rebuild the run-down station, there will be no F train service at Smith-9th Street; in addition, Manhattan-bound F trains as well as Queens-bound G trains will skip both the Ft. Hamilton Parkway and the 15th Street-Prospect Park stations until the work is done, which will hopefully be in May. More info on the MTA website…
If you live on the Ft. Hamilton or 15th street stop, there is no city bound service. It’s walk to 7th or Church Avenues, or take a train back to Church to take the express to Carroll.
@rob,some of us are actually losing our stations for the next 5months, so sorry that some people will actually end up on your normally operating train…..
This is one phase of a multi-year project to fix the entire elevated structure over the canal. The project has been going on for almost 2 years, and will take another 2 to finish.
If you live in Windsor Terrace and want to go to Manhattan, you must take the F or G to Church and switch to a Manhattan-bound F.
So if you live in Windsor Terrace, you must take a G to Carroll St. and then switch?
It’s going to affect it but there’s no telling what the effect will be.
Does anyone else think that whole bridge that carries the F/G over the canal needs rehabilitation?? I know they put netting around it a year or so ago so concrete chunks wont hit people on the street below – but damn, that thing looks almost as scary as the Gowanus Expressway!
This sounds like fun: The Manhattan/Queens F & G are running express btw Church & Carroll. At Smith/9th & 4th Ave the MTA is installing a temporary platform on the Brooklyn bound side for Manhattan/Queens bound trains.
ugh so then it will cuz i got on at the union street stop going into manhattan. well that’s annoying, tho i guess i could just walk over to 9th street and get on there.
*rob*
Only way this will impact the R is potentially more grumpy people transferring/boarding at 4th/9th.
is it affect or effect? i can never get that straight. either way, rob, the answer is NO, except for maybe more riders getting on the R around 4th and 9th maybe.
