f-train-logo.jpgRiders of the F and G lines in Brooklyn have a tough few months ahead. As part of the MTA’s plans to rebuild the run-down station, there will be no F train service at Smith-9th Street; in addition, Manhattan-bound F trains as well as Queens-bound G trains will skip both the Ft. Hamilton Parkway and the 15th Street-Prospect Park stations until the work is done, which will hopefully be in May. More info on the MTA website

  1. This is why I won’t move out of me ghetto ass nabe. It’s serviced by Q/B/2/3/4/5/S/C, so I always have options. Since I’ve lived in NY, I’ve always chosen the neighborhood based on train access and for me that means at least 2 lines, with one being an express.

  2. Holy shit, so if you’re down in WT and usually use the 15th Street stop, you have to take the train two stops backwards to get to work??? I think that might even be worse than the Smith-9th closure; at least Carroll is only a five minute walk or so. My friends in Kensington/WT are going to be really pissed about this.

  3. One of the things I love about where I live is easy access to all of the trains at Atlantic-Pacific, as well as the A/C/G not too far away.

Having one or two lines down is not that big of a deal for me.

I do really feel for the people who use Smith/9. They are going to be either partially or totally without trains for quite a while.

  4. This is my biggest fear about ever possibly moving to Carroll Gardens (because I can’t afford a bigger place in my ‘hood). Right now, my closest train is the F/G @ Bergen, but just an extra 3 minutes gets me to Court St or MetroTech (Jay St). But, if the F/G was my only close station (like much of CG), this news would really bug me.
