Kick-off the winter holiday season with events at three of Brooklyn’s historic houses. All three houses have 18th century origins and intriguing tales of history and preservation. In early December their program offerings will focus on holiday revelry with family-friendly events.

Tree Lighting with Sinterklaas
Lott House
1940 East 36th Street
Friday, December 6, 6 to 8 p.m.

The Friends of Lott House will be celebrating the Dutch roots of the 18th century farmhouse with a visit from Sinterklaas at their annual outdoor tree lighting. Children can greet horses from the NYC Mounted Auxiliary and there will be cookies and cocoa. The site is also hosting a wreath fundraiser online to help decorate the site and support the preservation of the historic house.

Sinkerklaas – St. Nicholas Day

Saturday, December 7, 2-4 p.m.

Sinterklaas will also be making an appearance at the Wyckoff House Museum, arriving on horseback for a 22nd visit to the borough’s oldest historic house. He will arrive around 2:30 p.m. to great children and read a story. There will be hot cider, games, hands-on activities, and a tree-lighting at the end of the day. While the event is free, registration is strongly encouraged as capacity for story time with Sinterklaas will be limited.

Photos with Santa
Old Stone House
5th Avenue and 4th Street
Saturday, December 7, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
$33.85 per family

Santa Claus will be making an appearance at Old Stone House for an annual photo session. A professional photographer will be on hand and you can snap your own photos as well. Timed tickets are required and only one ticket is required per family. The Park Slope tree at 5th Avenue and 4th Street will already be aglow, the free tree-lighting ceremony takes place on Saturday, November 30 at 5:15 p.m.
